GOLFERS had
the additional challenge of negotiating the extra water as well as other
hazards during Saturday's Vijay Construction-sponsored tournament.
It seems
that no one can stop Patrick Asba from winning prizes as he was
victorious once again with a score of 39 points from Jerry Jean-Baptiste
on 38 points.
Asba was a
worthy winner as he had been in excellent form over the past month with
two wins and two runner-up positions in the last four competitions.
Godfrey
Andrade won third prize with a score of 35 from George Betts on 34
points and golfer of the year 2003 Ron Barbé was fifth with 33 points.
George
Betts, Jerry Jean-Baptiste and Russ Thomson led at the half-way mark,
all of them scoring 20 stableford points, with the younger of the trio –
Jerry – just failing to hold off the fast finishing Asba.
Other
winners were Thomson – 20 points (best front nine), Harold Prea – 19
points (best back nine), along with some very happy lucky draw prize
recipients.
The club is
very grateful to Mr Vijay Patel of Vijay Construction for his
sponsorship and looks forward to seeing him winning his own tournament
in 2005.
This
Saturday's competition is the Barclays Monthly Mug, while on Thursday at
2.30 p.m. there will be a nine-hole stableford tournament sponsored by
IOEC.
