THE Seychelles
National Olympic Committee (Snoc) is calling on all young inspired
Seychellois writers, aged between 18 and 21 years old, to participate in
the literature competition being organised by the International Olympic
Academy (IOA).
The theme of the
literature competition, organised in collaboration with the different
national Olympic academies across the world, is 'Education and the
Olympic Movement'.
Interested
participants have until March 15 to hand in their entries at Snoc's head
office at Stad Linite, Roche Caïman, and the winning essay at national
level will automatically be chosen for the international competition.
The winning entry
at national level will receive R2,000, while the runner-up and
third-place finisher will pocket R1,500 and R1,000 respectively.
Participants can
enter only one composition written in either English or French and works
must be original and should not have been published before.
Winners of the
international competition will receive their prizes in Olympia, Greece,
by the end of May during IOA's 44th International Session for Young
Participants.
A sum of US$5,000
will be awarded to the winner, whilst an additional US$30,000 will be
given to the winning entry's National Olympic Academy.
According to Alain
Alcindor, chairman of the National Olympic Academy of Seychelles (NOAS),
because the prizes are very interesting, they are expecting a good
response from young Seychellois who have over the years shown great
interest in learning about the Olympic Movement.
