YOUNG
William Weidner-Tirant was unstoppable last Saturday, winning the Air
Seychelles/Boeing Golf Tournament to capture the first prize which was a
return ticket to Singapore.
The
close scores on the first nine holes proved that each and every player
had decided to fight it to the
last putt to win. Weidner-Tirant
led the other golfers with 33 points, followed
closely by Patrick Asba, Jerry Jean-Baptiste, Margaret Pragassen, Jayant
Mayadas and golf addict Lewis
Labrosse.
The
second nine proved to be a battle of wits, strategies and, of course, experience and no one could afford a single mistake as this would prove
disastrous in the final
result. After the first group came
in, Lewis Labrosse was in the lead with a nett
66 points to put himself in a strong position to finish among the winners.
In the meantime,
young Weidner-Tirant was firing on all cylinders and he
applied the
turbo on a faultless back nine to come in with another gross
33 points to shoot
into the lead.
The only players
still on the course who could overtake him were Margaret Pragassen
and Jayant Mayadas, but the wheels came off somewhere on the course for those two and their scores could not match that of Weidner-Tirant.
The final results were as follows:
Weidner-Tirant first with 63 points, followed by Patrick Asba and Jayant
Mayadas.
The front and back
nines were won by Margaret Pragassen and Lewis Labrosse respectively.
The prizes were presented to the winners by Dr Hamid Zeghmi, Boeing vice-president International Sales, and Mr
Glen Pillay, Air Seychelles'
Public Relations Manager.
As for
Dudu Chudasama, captain of the Seychelles
Golf Club, he thanked
Air Seychelles and Boeing for their support to the club and to
sports
in general in Seychelles.
Meanwhile, the
annual Airtel 18-hole Medal-Ford competition
will be played on Saturday, starting at 12.45 p.m. at the Seychelles
Golf Club, Anse Aux Pins.
All golfers are
being asked to give their
names as early as possible because
late
entries will not be accepted.
