KLAUS Pragassen and Charles Morel were crowned champions of the Atlas Handicap Cup and Plate tournament which took place on Thursday September 19 at the Mont Fleuri court.

In the Cup final, Seychelles number one player, Klaus Pragassen had the better of another top player, Marc Hoareau on a 3-1 score.

To qualify for the final Pragassen first defeated U. Dwivedi 3-1 before whitewashing Michael Mason 3-0 in the semifinal.

As for Hoareau, he collected three victories in as many matches before the final.

He first thumped Joel Jacqueline 3-0 in his first match and on the same score he beat Eva Alphonse before overpowering Lindsey Chong-Seng 3-0 to book his tickets for the final.

Up and coming Charles Morel, who is getting stronger with every competition made easy meat of Steve Jardine whom he beat 3-1 in the Plate final for his first title of the year.

Before the final, Morel, who survived a scare in his first match losing 1-3 to Dwidevi made amends in his second match defeating outright favourite Steven Rideau 3-2 before eliminating Ryan Payet 3-0 in the semifinal.

For his part Jardine whitewashed Joel Jacqueline 3-0 before having the better of M. Gunatikale 3-0 in the second semifinal.

The top three finishers of the competition which was played on a knockout basis received cash prizes sponsored by Atlas Computer Services.
