SIMON Dine played
some excellent golf recently at the Anse Aux Pins golf course to claim
the British Airways Cup with a nett score 64.
Low scores were
always going to be difficult on an almost unplayable course following
heavy rainfall. But William Weidner and in-form golfer Patrick Asba soon
proved this wrong, both shooting an excellent front nine score of 31.
Several other
players hovered around the lead, including eventual winner Dine, who
also won the 2001 edition of the tournament.
Asba tried
valiantly to hold on to his first round lead but dropped vital shots on
the back nine and settled for second place.
Sanjesh Puri, who
has been playing consistently well and finishing around the top of the
leader board, finished in third place with William Weidner fourth.
Celina Rahemtulla
of British Airways presented the prizes and cups.
The other prize
winners were William Weidner (best front nine and longest drive), Catney
Laporte (best back nine) and Jocelyn Ah-Yu (closest to the pin on the
6th hole).
British Airways has
been sponsoring golf in the Seychelles for a number of years and
much to the delight
of the members, it has said that it will continue to do so in the
future. |
