Chairman Dogley gets second two-year term in office

NORBERT Dogley was on Saturday January 11,  re-elected chairman of the Seychelles Handball Association for a second consecutive two-year term. The elections for office bearers took place during the sports' annual general meeting at Stad Linite’s conference room.

Being the only candidate for the post of chairman, Dogley was unanimously re-elected by the members present at Saturday’s January 11, meeting.

Asked how he felt about his re-election, Dogley had this to say:

"I am very happy to have been re-elected chairman of the Seychelles Handball Association (SHA). I hope that the local association can carry on with all its plans for the year 2003. With the support of the new executive committee, Seychellois handball can reach greater heights."

"My immediate plan is to set up four regional teams – north, south, east, west – to compete with each other in different competitions which we hope to organise soon. On top of that, we are to also send coaches from the association to teach the game in schools across the country," noted chairman Dogley.

Mr Dogley added that emphasis was being placed on the youth this year.

"If we want to get a good national team in the future we need to work with the youths as they hold the key to the sports’ future," said Dogley who added that he was satisfied with the level of participation throughout the 2002 season and that the association was planning to organise more competitions for schoolchildren this year.

"We are also looking into the possibility of travelling to neighbouring countries this year to measure our strength with other teams in the region. It is very difficult and expensive to send a team overseas, but I hope that we will get the necessary support we will be needing," he explained.

Helmy Riaze was elected as secretary while Dieudonné Nagleau is the treasurer.

The six ordinary members are Roy Dijoux, Emmanuel Bradburn, Jenny Haidee, Danny Philoé, Emmanuel Larue and Michel Kilindo.

Sports Nation would like to take this opportunity to wish Mr Dogley and his team all the best for the new 2003 season.
