INDIAN yoga practitioner, Mr S. R. Prasad, is in
the country and he has, since November 5, been conducting introductory
sessions for participants of different ages at the Omnisports Gym, Roche
Caïman.
Mr Prasad, who has been practising Hatha yoga
(exercise), Pranayama yoga (regulation of breath) and Meditation (inner
spirit) for the past 25 years, said that he was very happy to be in
Seychelles to share his experience and knowledge with others.
“I am surprised to see that quite a number of
people here are interested in yoga. This gives me great pleasure to be
here to pass on to others what I have learned,” said Mr Prasad, who
started practising yoga postures and Pranayama when he was still a
schoolboy.
While he was at college, his love for yoga
continued to grow and he stayed in contact with spiritual and social
organisations by participating in social services and doing the best he
could for society.
After completing his studies at college level, his
interest for yoga deepened and he practised different forms of yoga
before joining a social/spiritual organisation called “Divine Life
Society” in 1976. He continued to study yoga and philosophy for
another six years after which he started teaching the art.
According to Mr Prasad, the aims of those sessions
are to keep the physical body fit and preserve a mental balance by doing
proper exercises and proper breathing, following proper diets and
through positive thinking.
All those four put together, he said, is a
“wholesome life”, that is "living life in its totality which is
every man’s wish."
