GERARD Ah-Shung
was Saturday February 14 given a vote of confidence by being re-elected
chairperson of the Seychelles Karting Association (SKA) for another
one-year term.
Being the only
candidate for the post of chairman, Ah-Shung, who was first elected as
chairperson in 2003, was unanimously re-elected in office by SKA members
present at last Saturday’s meeting.
Alister Maiden was
elected as the new vice-chairman, while Liza Rene remains as the
secretary of the association.
The six ordinary
members are Lesley Mathiot, Peter Fred, John Simon, Dave Rene, Andy
Denousse and Michael Rene.
Meanwhile, the SKA
association has announced that the 2004 season will roar off with a busy
13-round National Championship which will be followed shortly afterwards
by an Endurance competition.
The association is
also looking into the possibility of sending a team of drivers to an
overseas competition during the year if they get the financial back-up.
As for the
Seychelles Amateur Bodybuilding Association's (Sabba) extra-ordinary
meeting, it again ended in confusion as was the case with the annual
general meeting.
Chairman Marcel
Ally has stepped down and, in the meantime, the post remains vacant.
There was election
though for two vacant posts. Former chairman Golbert Nicette was elected
as the new treasurer while Michel Comettant was voted in office as
secretary.
There were also
elections for three posts in the Seychelles Judo Federation under the
chairmanship of Cedric Thomas since last year.
André César was
elected as treasurer, replacing Sandra Mathiot who has gone to Australia
for further studies, while Gerard Baker and David Antoine have been
elected as ordinary members.
The Seychelles
Kickboxing Federation (SKF) will, for its part, be run this year by
Vincent Volcère who has taken over from Cecilie Derjacque (now
secretary) at the helm of the federation.
Mario Pragassen is
the new vice-chairman, while judoka Gerard Baker, the sports officer for
kickboxing, is the treasurer.
The ordinary
members are Egbert Onezia, Stanio Simeon and David Folette.
As for the
Seychelles Basketball Federation's annual general meeting, scheduled for
last Saturday, it has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday at 9
a.m. at the Sports Training Centre.
On the other hand,
it is not sure whether the Seychelles Cycling Association's AGM was
completed and even chairman Antonio Jean-Baptiste told Sports Nation
that he "cannot make any comments."
