RON Barbé came from behind to win the Sunset Beach
Hotel-sponsored competition for the second year running Saturday
February 14 at the Seychelles golf course, Anse Aux Pins.
Barbé did not have it all his own way, trailing by
three shots at the half-way mark, with André Rassool leading on 19
points ahead of William Weidner and Johnny Savy with 18 points apiece.
After completing his round, Rassool was the
clubhouse leader until Jerry Jean-Baptiste, playing in the third last
group, sank an eagle putt on the 18th hole to take the lead.
However, Ruggles Latimer, Brett Adcock and eventual
winner Barbé, playing in the final group, all gave themselves a chance
of winning the title.
It went down to the wire with Adcock and Latimer
missing crucial putts on the last green and a par by Barbé was enough
for him to clinch the title with a score of 36.
Three players finished tied on 35 points and the
runner-up had to be decided on the countback rule.
Second place went to Jean-Baptiste followed by
Adcock and Rassool in third and fourth positions respectively.
The Seychelles Golf Club members would like to
thank Patrick Hoareau of Sunset Beach Hotel for presenting the prizes
and Mary Geers for the ongoing sponsorship and support to the golf club.
All golfers truly appreciate the generosity of Sunset Beach Hotel.

competition is scheduled for Thursday Febaruary 19, starting at 2.30
