THE annual H. Savy Insurance Matchplay competition has reached the semifinal stage in both the main draw and plate divisions. 

After 34 players competed on the first day of the knock-out competition, Mervyn Esparon has moved into the final following a nail-biting semifinal victory over Joe Elisa on the first play-off hole. 

Esparon’s opponent in the final will be the winner of the second semifinal between Edwin Palmer and Patrick Asba.

The plate competition, for golfers unsuccessful in the first round of the main draw, sees Catney Laporte and Sunil Shah playing off in a semifinal with the victor to play the final against William Weidner who defeated Damian Hoareau 2-1.

The finals of both events will take place at the Anse Aux Pins golf course on Saturday April 10.
