THE Anse Aux Pins duo of Jimmy Ismaël and Flocel
Bristol took the first prize on offer on Sunday February 22, by
triumphing in the season-opening tournament held at the Grand Anse Mahe
community centre.
Ismaël and Bristol tamed Unity's Maryliane Nolin
and Jameson Samson 50-0 in the final.
Ironically, Sunday's finalists came from the two
teams who have been relegated to the second division after finishing
second from bottom and last in the 2003 10-team final first division
league standings.
RCS United, runners-up to second division winners
English River in 2003, and Quincy Village settled for third and fourth
positions.
Meanwhile, the League championship, sponsored by
Mohan Shopping Centre, will start this coming weekend with five first
division matches.
The first division teams are English River, Quincy
Village, Silhouette, St Pierre, Cascade, La Salette, Baie Lazare, RCS
United, Anse Boileau and Tryers.
The seven teams who are to play in the second
division are Anse Aux Pins, Pointe Larue, Anse Boileau Ladies, APC
Parish, Unity, Conquerors and Bois Sacré. |
