Salim Tamatave is
this year's winner of the Optimist National Championship disputed over
five Olympic trapizods – three in the morning and the remaining two in
the afternoon – last Saturday in Victoria harbour.
Young and upcoming
Tamatave accumulated 13 points after winning race 4, had a second place
finishe in race 5 and two third place finishes in races 1 and 2.
Tamatave's worst
performance was in race 3 where he crossed the finish line fourth.
Second place went to
Daniel Esther with 18 points after winning race 2, finishing second in
race 1, sixth in race 4 and last in the third race.
In third place
overall with 20 points was Ronny Elizabeth , the only other sailor apart
from Nourrice and Joubert to win a race.
A total of 9 sailors
participated in the National Championship which according to the
organisers was tough and tight.
The other results were as follows: Samuel Marie
(fourth with 22 points), Dyan Gill (fifth with 24 points), Roland
Bristol (sixth with 25 points), Paul Morel (seventh with 28 points),
Yanick Lablache (eighth with 30 points) and Purvis Hoareau (ninth with
48 points).
