TEAMWORK was in action during the whole of last
week in the Vijay-sponsored Team Tournament at the Mont Fleuri squash
courts.
Victory after five days of closely-contested and
interesting contests went in Team A's favour with 52 points.
Former Seychelles men's basketball team coach Keven
Furneau, Seychelles Squash Association chairperson Marc Houareau,
Rithvan Prosper and Ryan Payet comprised Team B who recorded five wins
in as many matches.
Six teams took part in the round-robin competition
and Team B, led by reigning male squash player of the year Klaus
Pragassen with Nigel Pillay, Steven Rideau-Mein and Cyril Mohamed as
partners, settled for second position with 44 points.
The tournament winners were decided on the final
day – last Friday – when Team A met Team B.
Both teams came into the final day of action with
four wins apiece and no one could afford to loosen their grip on the
match as they fought for victory.
In the end, Team B won a 9-8 score after Furneau
walked over Rideau-Mein and Prosper beat Pillay 3-2
Team A's wins were registered by Pragassen and
Mohamed against Houareau and Payet respectively.
