Cécile makes unhappy return to La Digue
with defeat
GOALKEEPER Kitson Cécile made an unhappy return to
the La Digue playing field where he made a name for himself when playing
for La Passe before being dislodged by Vincent Euphrasie.
On Saturday May 29, in the second match of the
Sunkiss'd division one League, visitors SMB, with Cécile in goal,
fell 0-3 to 2002 joint-League champions La Passe.
SMB, newcomers to the top flight after winning last
year's second division title, kept home side La Passe at bay in the
first half, but could not withstand the pressure in the second to
concede three goals in their first away match on La Digue.
Defender Henry Ladouce gave La Passe the lead in
the 49th minute with a header. The home side's second goal came courtesy
of Malagasy Bruno Saindini whose 58th minute shot spilled out of keeper
Cécile's hands and into the net.
Another Malagasy player, Amisy Voavy, who joined La
Passe from arch-rivals Anse Réunion at the start of the season, put the
issue beyond doubt five minutes from time by scoring La Passe's third
goal.
It is to note that Seychelles striker Wilnes Brutus
netted the first hat-trick of the 2004 Sunkiss'd division one
League in Red Star's 5-1 defeat of Sunshine last Thursday.
