Karting: National Championship round 12
Rene and Tirant winners

DAVE Rene (Formula A) and Naddy Tirant (Cadet) were the winners of the National Championship Round 12 which took place on Sunday September 22 at the Champions Park Raceway, Roche Caiman.

In Formula A, Rene had to take a risk by dropping out midway through the second heat as his fuel ran low and would not have been enough for the final. Rene's decision proved to be very good as he went on to win the final with a few drop to spare.

Young and upcoming Joel Lau-Tee took second place, but he was under intense pressure from a recovering Andy Denousse who could have beaten him had  he had a lap or two more.

John Simon also had a good day's racing, taking a close fourth place and thus consolidating his third place on the overall standings.

Andy Alvis had to run in a rebuilt engine and did not feature in the front but finished the final in fifth position.

The cadet category had a new winner in Naddy Tirant who won both his heats and finished the final with the fastest lap of 31.51 seconds. He was followed in second position by newcomer Jonathan Richards who has been slowly improving since he joined the this class towards the middle of the year.

Outright favourite, Marcus Dubignon took third place but he was not driving to his usual high standard maybe due to the fact that he is already the Cadet champion for this season.

Steven Rosalie had to settle for fourth place followed by Stephen Emmanuel and Ruddy Joseph in fifth and sixth position respectively.

Joshua Gopal was unlucky not to qualify for the final after dropping out of the second heat as a result of a small collision, but he still holds the second place on the overall championship table.

In the Junior class Alex Chang-Sam looked certain to clinch the title, but with three more rounds left, runner-up Nelwyn Pierre still has a chance to steal the show if he is able to win all the remaining races.

Meanhile, all 2002 Novice drivers are being asked to report to Mr John Simon anytime this week to confirm their particiption in the forthcoming Novice Super Final competition.
